Hug or Be Destroyed
| May 26, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under Uncategorized |
These Goth Princess things make me think of my sister. Not that she was nasty or whatever. But she had attitude. But, when your little sister has attitude it just seems kind of cute. Even if it makes her mad.
Edward Scissorhands
| May 25, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under Illustration and Art |
I’ve set myself a goal to create an illustration for Edward Scissorhands 20th Anniversary. I want to do it in ASCII Art. I have the design, the plan. But it’s going to be pretty big, I’ve been working with small illustrations lately and I’ve never tried for something that requires scrolling in the window I’m working in. So, it will be different. But now I’m looking forward to it.
I even got thinking about putting my own ASCII art and illustrations from others into a blog. If people like my Edward Scissordhand ASCII they might like to see more so a gallery would be a good thing. I’ve been putting off updating the little gallery I have on thatgrrl.ca.
Anyway, tomorrow I will have the house to myself for at least a few hours. Maybe I can brew up a fresh mug of coffee and get to work on it.
Better Than We Are
| May 25, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under Creative Fat Grrl |
“When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too. It’s not love to be static like the desert, nor is it love to roam the world like the wind. And it’s not love to see everything from a distance. […] It is we who nourish the Soul of the World, and the world we live in will be either better or worse, depending on whether we become better or worse. And that’s where the power of love comes in. Because when we love, we always strive to become better than we are.”

Cluttered Dreamer

You Are a Dreamer |
![]() You are primarily concerned with possibilities. You tend to be a fanciful person. All of the world’s opportunities sometimes overwhelm you. You are obsessed with ideas and tend to be a big thinker. Theories interest you greatly. You crave intellectual stimulation. You are drawn to a philosophical way of life. |
Your Mind is 53% Cluttered |
![]() Your mind is starting to get cluttered, and as a result, it’s a little harder for you to keep focused. Try to let go of your pettiest worries and concerns. The worrying is worse than the actual problems! |
I’m probably more cluttered than that. I just didn’t want to really have to think of it or admit it.
Chrome Daisy
| May 18, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under Illustration and Art |
There’s a Lady Gaga theme on Facebook games ( a few of them) now. I had never heard of her until my Mom came back from Florida and was talking about her last year. Mom likes to was the American Idol show and Lady Gaga was on there as well. She’s younger than I thought. Anyway, I liked the idea of shiny, chrome daisies when I saw them come up with the new stuff on Facebook. Daisies are nice in all kinds of designs. I especially like them done in blue and white. Chrome would be pretty too, more glamorous than pretty maybe.
I also found that you can get chrome daisy styled tail light covers if you have a VW Beetle car. That would be pretty cute. Though they would suit the head lights better, since they could be white then instead of red. But, it could be less than safe to have anything partially covering your head lights.
Banana Muffins at 4:00AM
| May 15, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under Creative Arts and Crafts |
I’ve been sleeping badly lately, waking up too early, getting to sleep too late/ early. Anyway, I went to bed early and woke up about 2:00AM today. I puttered around, slacked on Facebook games for awhile. Then I got thinking of more intelligent things to do, like doing something with that last banana getting over ripe. Banana bread needed 3 or so bananas, which wouldn’t work. So I checked pancakes but I am pretty sure my Mother (who is here, still sleeping) would turn her nose up at banana pancakes. So I went with banana muffins. I found a pretty standard looking recipe and added my own finishing adjustments. Right now they are in the oven.
I added some orange juice squeezed from an orange I was eating at the time. It was a delicious orange, very juicy. I added an extra egg, partly to make up for the lack of a second banana and partly because I didn’t want to leave one egg all alone in the fridge. I added cocoa powder because it smells so good! After I thought about adding some coffee, instant. But maybe that would have been one ingredient too many. So they are baking. Should be about ready to come out now.
Toronto ASCII Art
| May 13, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under Illustration and Art |
I found this on a site with a collection of ASCII art, some I don’t remember seeing before. But… every single one of them has had the original artist’s initials stripped from it. Very disappointing.
Bulk Photo Loading for Flickr
| May 9, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under Illustration and Art, The Internet Unplugged |
Bulkr says it will download all your photos from Flickr (or anyone else’s photos on Flickr too, which isn’t so good if someone takes credit or sells them). For me it will be good as I would like to put them all on one DVD and have hard copies of them that way. I have not tried it yet but they claim it works with Linux, Windows or Mac.
A New Old iMac
| May 9, 2011 | Posted by thatgrrl under The Internet Unplugged |
My sister has given me her old iMac. I’ve never used a Mac so it will be an adventure. I set it up tonight but didn’t do much beyond turning it on and then changing the clock and date. I want to look into what it may need for updates and how far I can update the system’s hardware with new software. I wrote down all the information and have found it on the Apple site. Turns out it is older than I thought, but that shouldn’t matter as much for a Mac as it does for PC running Windows.
It’s an iMac G3 and I found a User Guide which I will read through tomorrow. It’s getting a bit late to do more tonight. I also found a New User Guide which might help a PC user adapt to a Mac.
