Six Sentences: New Fallen Snow
| March 24, 2008 | Posted by thatgrrl under Uncategorized |
It’s simple. Just write six sentences. Say anything you like.
A snowflake fell past the window, softly, like a teardrop. Beyond her dark silhouette, reflected on the window, the motel room was quiet. The man on the bed, silent, like the snow. Only the good die young; she could expect to live a very long time. Outside the snow flew past the window, faster, becoming a blizzard. She picked up her coat and left, a fire breathing dragon disappearing into the snow.
Three Beautiful Things #3

1. Corn chowder. Even if it does come from a can, it’s creamy and my favourite simple thing to make for one at the moment.
2. Just finished reading Fanged & Fabulous by Michelle Rowen, a paranormal fiction writer from right here in Ontario. The book was a lot of fun to read. I’m looking forward to the next one which is due out soon.
3. The snow is melting. It’s starting to feel a bit like Spring, even though it snowed a bit more (again) last night. Surely it won’t be long before the tulips for sale in the grocery stores are also poking up through the garden soil in the yard here.
Three Word Wednesday

Three Word Wednesday, just a little late.
Money
Tangled
Understood
Afterwards the bed was full of money, tangled in the sheets and stuck to bare skin. It was understood that they’d share all the lottery winnings, traveling to all the places they had always wanted to see.

This comes from Modern Witchcraft School.
You Are The Moon |
![]() You represent the unconscious side of life, what happens in dreams. You are capable of great genius – but also of great madness. Emotions tend to be primal for you, both your fears and your fantasies. Your intuition is always right, listening to it is the difficult part. Your fortune: You are about to embark on a very important journey – and a very difficult one. Some of your deepest dreams will be realized, as well as some of your deepest nightmares. Follow your creativity and visions; stay away from your weaknesses. You are taking a voyage to the center of yourself, and you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover. |
Sunday Scribblings: "I just don’t get it…"
| March 24, 2008 | Posted by thatgrrl under Uncategorized |
For Sunday Scribblings. There are so many things I just don’t get.
I don’t get why receive is spelled with the e before the i.
I don’t get why I get a headache before I even start to feel hungry.
I don’t get why we haven’t had a letter from any of those people on other planets yet?
I don’t get why my bottom lip seems to have a dip in the middle and I always have drips of coffee down the side of my mug. Even if I try to stick my lip right to the side of the mug.
I don’t get why some really bad writing is published as if it were good.
I really don’t get why we still have so much fuss and talk about the US entertainment, writers and actors instead of our own. As if our own is somehow not worth making a fuss about.
I don’t get how art that looks like someone dropped their paintbrush can sell for loads of money.
I don’t get every country still needs their own form of currency.
I don’t get why we need to take math for so many years in school. Except for the odd occasion, the only time I come across anything mathematical any more is when I’m watching a game show.
I don’t get why onions make me feel so sick.
There is more I don’t get but that’s enough for tonight.
Blog Talkers: Flowers
| March 23, 2008 | Posted by thatgrrl under Uncategorized |
Blog Talkers: Flowers. Do you like flowers? When is the last time you received flowers? When is the last time you sent someone flowers? Do you think purchasing flowers is a waste of money? Do you garden? What is your favorite flower?
I do like flowers. I think the last time I was sent flowers my Mom sent them for my birthday over a year ago. I don’t send flowers but usually bring them to my Mom. Last time was last Autumn when I bought her a passion flower vine. I think buying flowers is lovely. Organic too. I don’t garden a lot. My Mom has the garden here. I used to have a space when we lived in the Stouffville area. I had a tulip bed at the back of the house. I like a lot of different flowers. Mainly those which come up early in the Spring like tulips, Christmas rose, and violas and sweet williams later in the season.
…and May all Your Bunnies be Chocolate
| March 23, 2008 | Posted by thatgrrl under Uncategorized |
Sadly, unwanted former Easter rabbits are a problem for virtually all rabbit rescues, humane societies, and animal welfare organizations. The goal of the “Make Mine Chocolate!™” campaign is to address the problem at its source: reduce the number of uninformed, impulse purchases by changing the public’s attitude towards rabbits.
Why didn’t they make a badge/ graphic link for the campaign? It could have had something really cute and effective. I copied their banner to give it something.
Smiley Saturday #2

Posted for Smiley Saturday:
I went out today. Last day of my vacation time off from work. Just have my usual weekend to go before I am back at work on Tuesday now.
I went to Zellers for a lunch out. Was a disappointment. The halibut burger was really good the first time I ordered it. Today they weren’t even cleaning the tables off between customers. Gordon Ramsey would not approve.
But I smile about the new nightgown I bought myself. Pretty with tiny green polka dots on a lighter green background. Even some smocking with off white roses at the top. I’m wearing it now. Should have washed it first. But I didn’t want to wait.
A new purse too. Some kind of brown leather like clone. A backpack shape but smaller. Lots of nice pockets for everything. I just finished moving everything over from the old purse which was a bigger backpack type that keeps falling off my shoulder and aggravating me.
On the way home I decided to take a taxi. I got the driver I used to get when I was working midnights. Hadn’t seen him in awhile. Was nice to catch up with how he is doing.
Cure for the Old Guy’s Midlife Crisis
| March 23, 2008 | Posted by thatgrrl under Uncategorized |
After being married for 44 years, I took a careful look at my wife one day and said, “Honey, 44 years ago we had a cheap apartment, a cheap car, slept on a sofa bed and watched a 10-inch black and white TV, but I got to sleep every night with a hot 25-year-old gal. Now, I have a $500,000.00 home, a $45,000.00 car, nice big bed and plasma screen TV, but I’m sleeping with a 65-year-old woman. It seems to me that you’re not holding up your side of things.”
Now, my wife is a very reasonable woman.
She told me to go out and find a hot 25-year-old gal, and she would make sure that I would once again be living in a cheap apartment, driving a cheap car, sleeping on a sofa bed and watching a 10-inch black and white TV.
Aren’t older women great? They really know how to solve a mid-life crisis!!
I thought this was perfect. Had to repost it from Freaky Frugalite
