BlogTalkers: Tell Your Boss

From BlogTalkers: If you could tell your boss one thing without any consequences, and without profanity, what would it be?

We need some positive feedback about the calls we take. The usual feedback only comes when there is something wrong. I always feel like “what did I do THIS time” whenever I get weeky feedback. It’s discouraging and I feel I am not really making any progress. Then I wonder why it matters, really.

Monday Meme: Spring Fresh

Monday Meme 41 : 2006-04-02 : Spring Forward

1. List 3 things you like about spring:

Tulips, wildflowers, blossoming trees. Strawberries. Rainy days.

2. List 3 things you hate about spring:

There isn’t anything I hate about Spring.

3. Do you set your clocks forward in the spring? Do you think it is a good idea?

Why not. I’ve never put a lot of thought into it.

4. Do you have allergies in the spring? Do you take any allergies medications?

I have allergies all year round from various things. I avoid most of them and don’t need to take anything.

5. What are you looking forward to the most this spring?

Tulips blooming at the new house.

I was the 5,921th person to take this week’s Monday Meme!

A Little Light Babbling

So many things I think of to write about when I’m at work.

One was about how most of the jobs I have had seem to focus on selling credit cards, or that same kind of atmosphere/ theme. It would be nice to have a change. Tonight I found out that Adam, who has the 2:30 to 11:00 shift, is changing to part time days. I asked if I could change to that shift and avoid having to take a taxi home from work every night. Will save me a lot of money and frustration about the money it costs.

I was also thinking that I am gaining weight from this job. Too many times I am buying sweets after work or when I get groceries just cause I am frustrated with work and listening to people complain and tell me all their (usually cable related) problems every night. I need to work on that.

I really want to get back to writing, yet again. I still have my ideas just none of them are really getting out there, onto my hard drive.

Valentine for Mommy

Now that I have it here, ready to mail in a few days, I think this is the same card I sent her last year or the year before. Oh well, she isn’t likely to be sure either. :)

Just a Midnight Nap

Just finished reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I like stories about alternate civilizations/ societies/ flockings of humanity. This one gives a London underground, people living a different fantasy culture beneath, above and unseen around the standard London, UK. I liked it. Will think about something to draw for it later in the day, after a midnight nap.

Friday Fun: Money, To Have and To Hold

From the Friday Fun meme:
1. If you were to get a unexpected windfall, what is your first thought on what to do with the money? Were you practical or not?!
2. You have $1000 to spend on yourself. What do you buy? With $5000?
3. You have $1000 to spend on something for your home. What do you buy? With $5000?
4. You have your windfall and you realize your car is older than you. So what do you buy?
5. You decide to buy some books with your windfall at Amazon. What 5 books would you get?

1. Practical, I’d buy myself a house, maybe a condo downtown or a comfortable little place in some smaller city.

2. With a $1000 I would take a trip somewhere in Ontario for a week. Rent a car and stay in nice hotels and motels. With $5000 I’d go across Canada for a month.

3. I can’t think of anything I really want for the home. Maybe someone to clean it. Or an organizer to help get rid of clutter and find some of the things packed away from all the moving I seem to never see the end of.

4. I’d probably buy a Toyota Camry, they seem reliable and aren’t too big or too small. My Mother bought a ’93 new and it is still running well and has been driven a lot. They’re good on gas and the new ones come in nice colours too.

5. I’d buy some books about web design, some fiction and keep the rest on a gift card to spend when ever I had time to go browse and saw something that caught my interest. I wouldn’t use Amazon, I like Chapters.

Thursday 13 #11:Long Hair is a Good Thing

The Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen reasons to have long hair…

1. It keeps the back of your neck warm.

2. You can always do a Rapunzel if you’re stuck in a tower or something.

3. It gives you something to do with your hands when you’re stuck waiting for a bus, trying to quit smoking or just want to twirl your hair for no good reason.

4. You’ll seldom be mistaken for a boy/ man.

5. If you get stranded on a deserted island you can always pull out a strand of hair and go fishing.

6. It works to drive your ex-husband crazy (or at least annoyed) long after you have moved on your hair still keeps clogging up his vacuum cleaner.

7. If you’re kind of kinky… you can swat flies with it, just like a horse.

8. If you’re out somewhere fancy and lose a button you only need a needle to sew it back on.

9. You’re saving all that hair from just being stuck in some landfill or other.

10. When you really want to be alone you come equipped with your own curtain to close off the world.

11. It gives school children (those little sweethearts) a place to put their gum.

12. Pile it up on top of your head and you can always claim to have something on your mind.

13. The all you can eat buffet, a few napkins and well placed bobby pins and you’ve got enough for lunch the rest of the week.

Wordless Wednesday: It’s Christmas Again

Missed Christmas with the family in 2007. Now I’m either doing it late or starting extra early on 2008.

The Water is Gone

The water is off here today. Looks like it will be awhile before we really have it back. Oh, the fun of living in a construction/ renovation zone yet again. Can’t say I missed it. The brother says the plumbing all needs to be replaced. Yet when we bought the house it was supposed to be free of any kind of major work needing to be done. Everything had already been done and done over new. I think part of this is the insurance company making claims about the plumbing being out of date or something. I was not giving it my full attention at the time. Now I wish I could stop giving it my full attention.

Going away for at least tomorrow. Will be nice to see the kids but not looking forward to sleeping on that damned couch. Graham says he will bring me back either Thursday or Friday morning. I vote for Thursday, I really do hate sleeping on that couch. At least I will see the kids and bring Christmas stuff out to them finally. I put something I had for Zack away and can’t remember where now, or even what it was.

I hope I can use the time in Newmarket to look at the LensCrafter in the mall. Now that I can get glasses paid for by the benefits at work I want to get them on order. I’d like to find frames almost the same as the ones I have now. Kind of an oval shape with a dark blue frame.

Also, Bell is still being a pain in the ass. Each time I think I have that account sorted out they come up with some new problem. Still can not get the concept of the one bill account even though it is their own thing. I’ve tried since August to get this done and they STILL can not get it right. January is the first month they have finally got the three services on one bill. But, just as I am thinking it is at last done they send me a collection notice for the internet account on the old account number which was never the right account number. I did not pay the other account because I was paying the freaking one bill account which I had asked them every freaking month to fix with all three services. So, even though they finally have the internet added on it is not really added on. Damned ignorant morons! Just let them keep billing the dead guy. See if they can find where he ended up.

Sounds like the guys are cleaning up some of the construction madness so we may be leaving soon. I should get everything packed up and ready to go for however long this will be. Feel it would be smart to also bring the number to call for missing a day at work as these renovation things tend to royally screw up my life in general.

Quick! Beam Me Away!

Trying out the blog signature thing. I thought it was not working cause it didn’t appear on my past posts. But now I see that it puts the code in each new post. I just have to shuffle it down before I begin posting. A neat thing to learn. Will see what it looks like when I post this.

My brother said he would be here today. Already closing in on noon and no sign of him so far. I am planning to get out of here and go to Zellers then take the bus into work. My last day of the working week. I’ve been trying to do all the steps of the phone call thing so I won’t be in more trouble about dead air and not saying all the required lines on my calls. I think I’m getting better at doing it all on remote. Which is a very good thing.

Tired today. Would be nice to just go back to bed and watch tv on and off. But, that is for tomorrow when I can sleep in and be lazy for a few hours. Need to dig around in the piles of stuff I have collected in my bedroom and get everything put away. All the laundry is on my bed cause I haven’t wanted to do it after work and before work I keep thinking I will do it after work. Funny how that never quite works out.
