Holiday Chick

Merry Day

Merry Christmas Eve Day.

Think of the people who are working while you’re having fun. Keeping the services available which we mostly take for granted.

I won’t be home till December 25th cause I’ll be one of those people out there, taking calls from people who want to sit at home and watch TV.

Snow is Getting Rained Out

Getting ready to head out to work. Picked up a cold from somewhere. Feeling pretty yucky but don’t want to miss any more days. Bought groceries last night after work, some things for making cookies and cabbage rolls. Will be nice to have the cabbage rolls. But I forgot to get sour cream, not essential but would have been extra good with sour cream.

Loads of snow here still but yesterday it was melting and today it is being rained out. The metal roof on the house is almost cleared off now. Tons of snow on the yard now between the snowfall and the snow sliding off the roof. Too bad there aren’t any kids here to make a snow village of people and a big fort. Would have been the best Christmas decorating for the outside.

Reboot Grrl

Don’t yell too loudly at the tech support people… For we have your modem/ cable at our fingertips.

Secret Santa Day

I was away on the day they had set for the exchange and then forgot to bring it in yesterday when I went back to work. So today I have my gift for the Secret Santa exchange sitting out right by my coat and boots. I’m even thinking about spoiling myself and taking a taxi in so I don’t have to carry it in on the bus. It’s not hugely heavy but it’s ackward hauling around more stuff and it’s not exactly light either. Plus I’m just fed up with waiting for the bus.

Tired today too. Couldn’t seem to get to sleep till nearly 7:00 this morning. Then woke up before 11:00. Hope I can do better tonight so I’m not turning into a zombie.

Still no tree up but I am starting to feel that I will, maybe, do it. Maybe. No promises. Doesn’t sound like I’m going anywhere for Christmas and I will be working Boxing Day now. I could put up all the tree stuff on Christmas Day, I will be here. Would be nice to make cookies then too. Just thought of that idea. I’d need to haul flour and such here before the grocery stores are closed up for the holidays.

What’s Your Whoville Name?

My Whoville name: Luminescent Laura Bippity-boo-Who.

I’m not a big Whoville type. The Grinch is only a little more interesting than all the goodie goodie Whos. I prefer Scrooge.

Thursday Thirteen #6: Christmas Grinch Spirit

Today for Thursday Thirteen… Why I still don’t have my Christmas tree or any decorations up…

1. I feel like road kill after having failed the road test, my (well meaning and caring but overly loud) brother and my birthday all in one day yesterday.

2. I don’t have the energy, no I don’t have the ambition, to find everything.

3. Sometimes it is too much like going through the dead and wishfully buried to look at all that old stuff when looking back seems better than the here and now.

4. Maybe I’m just getting too old for Christmas.

5. Maybe I can just admire other decorations and trees from afar and leave all mine in mothballs.

6. Maybe my Christmas tradition is to buy a new tree ornament and keep everything wrapped up and packed away, in some box or other.

7. It seems too much like the never ending ordeal of moving to have to find all those boxes and unpack them.

8. Maybe I can just procrastinate one more day…

9. I have to get ready to go to work in a couple of hours.

10. At this rate Christmas will be over soon anyway.

11. No one but me will be here to see the tree and decorations, I could just lie and say I had them all up and then took them all down right after the 25th. Let them deal with that.

12. I know I will never find that one angel my Mom bought me for my tree and I just don’t want to finally look through the last box and have to admit she (the ornament) is gone forever.

13. My Dad was an electrical engineer, all those little lights and plugs really do give me the creeps, once mildly electrocuted, twice… umm….. severely phobic.

Road Test Road Kill

Before and after the road test round two today. Let’s just say things were only slightly better than round one and Happy Birthday to me and leave it at that.

The Internet and phone had a death wish today as well but Bell sent out a repairman today, not long after we called the third or fourth time and he found it was the outside lines, lo and behold. At least I was right about something today.

Can you blog every day? I think there will be some days where rules will have to be adjusted, but I’ve been doing ok since NaBloPoMo finished. Why not keep on going.
